INSPO: 4 Reasons to do a Boudoir Photoshoot

The idea of having a boudoir session scare the bejeebies out of you? You’re not alone—it did me and almost all of my clients as well!

Here are four excuses I hear over and over of why not to do a boudoir session and why they are just, well… BS. These are simply smoke screens to hide behind when our insecurities tell us to avoid something we’re afraid of or intimidated by.

“I had a wonderful session with Grace in Lace Boudoir. Real fun and comfortable. Photos look great, makeup artist was great, hair came out great. Would love to do it again…Thanks!” ~Julia

I AM WAY TOO NERVOUS

Nervous to be in your skivvies in front of a camera? Of course you are! However, the rule for what to wear for a boudoir shoot, is there is no rule! Don’t ya luv it? Throw on a lace or velvet robe, a leather jacket, jean shirt, your SO’s shirt, jersey, or fatigues. Layering will make you so much more comfortable and relaxed.

I’M NOT A PHOTOGENIC PERSON

My response is always the same: you just haven’t had the right photographer. Professional photographers study angles and lighting. We know the art of posing from the tip of your head to your fingertips to “capture the most amazing images”.

I’M NOT BEAUTIFUL LIKE THE OTHER WOMEN ON YOUR WEBSITE

None of the women on my website and social media are models. I truly believe every woman is beautiful! I hire the most experienced professional makeup artists and professional hairstylists who are skilled in enhancing your natural beauty! Silence is key when I use my silent shutter camera setting. So you don’t always know when your photo is being taken. I’m sneaky that way.

I’M TOO SHY AND SELF-CONSCIOUS

Stepping out of your comfort zone is so liberating and you’ll begin to feel more comfortable in your own skin long before your session is over. When those feelings of insecurity start to fade, just open your boudoir album for a gentle reminder.

THIS IS NOT JUST A PHOTO SHOOT IT’S AN EXPERIENCE

When was the last time you were pampered, had your hair and makeup done professionally, and confidently shopped for beautiful lingerie? Once you’re ready and it’s just us, the fun begins to find the perfect pose and picture. I’m not gonna lie, some boudoir poses are super hard but I’ll coach you through them and you’ll only remember the laughs! The album we create after your session will be a constant reminder of just how beautiful you are!
