Boudoir Shoot Prep: Tips and Tricks

I’m so thrilled to have you here and even more excited that you’re gearing up for your boudoir session. Preparing for your shoot is all about feeling fabulous, confident, and ready to shine. So, let’s dive into our top tips and tricks to help you get ready for your boudoir session—from makeup and nails to hair and skincare. Get ready to feel empowered and have a blast!

Makeup Magic

Your makeup can make you feel like a superstar, so here are a few tips to help you get that flawless look:

  1. Go Bold or Go Natural: Whether you love a bold, dramatic look or a more natural vibe, choose a style that makes you feel amazing. Boudoir is all about celebrating YOU, so go with what feels right.

  2. Highlight Your Features: Focus on highlighting your best features. Love your eyes? Go for a smoky eye or some luscious lashes. Proud of your pout? Rock that bold lipstick!

  3. Practice Makes Perfect: You’ll have a professional makeup artist included before your shoot, but feel free to do a trial run of your look(s) at home first if you are able. This will help you feel more confident and ensure you love your look.

Nail Your Nails

Your hands (and feet!) will be in the spotlight, so let’s make those nails pop:

  1. Manicure Time: Treat yourself to a manicure a day or two before your session. Whether you love bold colors, chic neutrals, or a classic French tip, freshly done nails will look great in your photos. Avoid busy patterns, though, or colors that take the focus off your beautiful face!

  2. Moisturize: Keep your hands and cuticles moisturized to ensure they look soft and smooth. A little hand cream can go a long way. And don’t forget to exfoliate the callouses from your heels!

  3. Nail Shape: Choose a nail shape that complements your style and makes you feel confident. Whether it’s square, oval, or stiletto, go with what you love.

Hair to Remember

Your hair is your crowning glory, so let’s make it shine:

  1. Style it Up: Decide on a hairstyle that makes you feel confident and sexy. Whether it’s voluminous curls, sleek and straight, or a romantic updo, the choice is yours. Schedule a chat with your Grace in Lace hairstylist before your shoot by reaching out to me!

  2. Fresh Wash: Wash your hair the night before your session. Freshly washed hair can be easier to style, and you’ll feel super clean and confident.

  3. Bring Your Accessories: If you have any accessories or extensions you want to wear- bring them!

  4. Hair Products: For your shoot, your hairstylist is included in the price of your session. Just show up with clean hair and she’ll handle all the styling and products. We don’t want to go overboard—you want your hair to look natural and touchable.

Skincare Secrets

  1. Hydrate: Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your session. Hydrated skin looks plump and radiant.

  2. Exfoliate: Gently exfoliate your skin a couple of days before your shoot to remove any dead skin cells and reveal a fresh, glowing complexion.

  3. Moisturize: Keep your skin moisturized from head to toe. Use a rich body lotion or oil to keep your skin soft and smooth.

  4. Avoid New Products: Stick to your tried-and-true skincare products to avoid any unexpected reactions or breakouts. Also, avoid any actives you aren’t used to like retinol, tretinoin or chemical peels. You don’t want to have a skin purge or redness on shoot day!

Final Tips and Tricks

  1. Get a Good Night’s Sleep: Make sure to get plenty of rest the night before your session. You’ll feel refreshed and ready to shine.

  2. Pack Your Essentials: Bring a bag with your favorite outfits, accessories, and any props you want to include.

  3. Relax and Have Fun: Most importantly, relax and enjoy the experience. This is your time to shine, celebrate yourself, and have fun!

I can’t wait to capture your beauty and confidence on camera! Remember, this session is all about YOU—your strength, your beauty, and your unique story. Let’s make some magic together!
